I got to know them through Sol Shurman of Sugar Tampaxxx, a girly grunge band from the Buenos Aires scene back in the late 90s/early 00s. She loooved The Slits, punk rock, the riot grrrl movement, etc. I think the first song of theirs I heard was "I heard it through the grapevine". CONFESSION: I DID NOT KNOW IT WAS A MOTOWN ~CLASSIC~ ORIGINALLY BY MARVIN GAYE. But that happens sometimes, you hear a song & then find out it's a cover. If you ask me, it's a really good one, so I am sharing it with you today. Don't forget to listen to the original version, though, because it's amazing.
A fond memory I have including this song was in late 2007 @ Sympathy for the Party...they did a remix/ cover night & my friend Richie Hell was DJing & he played it. Chelo from DTB music was also there, & he had posted the song to his blog (which is FULL OF AWESOME although it's no longer updated. CHECK IT)...or he posted it afterwards? Anyways, we were dancing with another friend of Richie's, & when we heard the opening to this song, it was one of those OH YAY moments. Such a nice night overall. It was the start of the summer & a happy time in my life. Later we went to Chelo's house & hung out with his cat, Cariño. That's Spanish for "Honey". Not as in bee honey, rather as in "Hi honey, I'm home". If you ask me, that's an awesome name for a cat. BYE!
