Stuff I've been listening to

O FUX it's been a while since I've done one of these posts. So heeere are some albums I've been listening 2 along w/ the ppl who got me listening 2 them (or got me 2 listen 2 them AGAIN) &/or who they remind me of &/or stuff like that. K.

- "You think it's like this but really it's like this", Mirah. Olivia & Seanne
- "Pleasure", Girls at our best. Maggie
- "Sexuality", Sébastien Tellier. Maggie & Gaff. This album marked the 1st weekend I went out dancing & had fun after a long time of not going out & having fun. WHY ARE FRENCH PEOPLE SO AWESOME? THIS DUDE is friends w/ Justice & you can totally tell.
- "Their satanic majesties request", The Rolling Stones. Paco would mention this one. But it really got me one night Cali was over & we listened to "Sing this all together" & "Citadel" while drinking beer & talking b4 going 2 a party @ Mite Galeria. It was a really fun night, yeah.
- "Release the stars" & "All days are nights: Songs for Lulu", Rufus Wainwright. I hadn't heard his newest releases so I downloaded them & am currently processing.
- "Psychocandy", "Darklands", The Jesus & Mary Chain. Nyssa, Richie, Daniela, Maggie. OMG lotsa ppl. Plus the film The Man Who Loved Yngve. A band whose body of work I was never familiar w/ -apart from loose songs- but was always told I should look in2. Nyssa would say "Teenage lust" reminded her of me. It was playing @ Richie's house the time I stopped by b4 we went 2 a gig w/ Juli back in 2007. I am processing.
- "Bocanada", Gustavo Cerati. This dude is a big deal here in Argentina. He fronted Soda Stereo, one of the country's most influential bands & later continued to enjoy success as a solo artist. BUT he's always kinda annoyed me...4 some reason. I'd only heard his album "Siempre is hoy" & didn't think very much of it ... except for 2 songs which TOTALLY MADE ME FEEL THINGS INSIDE, yknow what I mean. The other night I was discussing this w/ a friend of a friend & he was like OMG PLS CHECK OUT "Bocanada" so I was like "OK FINE I WILL" (I tend 2 pay attention to what ppl say about the music they love, bc if someone likes it that much...if they're so passionate about it...IT'S GOTTA BE 4 A REASON, RIGHT?!) & well... I am glad I did, bc I have just started listening 2 it, & am seriously enjoying. & I am only beginning 2 discover it. So...EXCiTiNG.

- Mompox & the big umbrella they're an Argentine band but you would never guess it! Maybe the next big thing?
- The Smiths: everything. Nyssa. Nico
- Smashing Pumpkins: everything. Ksusha
- Massive Attack: everything.
- "A New World Record", Electric Light Orchestra. Ezequiel loves this band. He had me listen 2 "Discovery", Romo (who ownz the blog) recommended this album. I gotta admit I think "Evil woman" is still my fav ELO song... SORRY BOYS.

Um...I got sidetracked & didn't write about the other albums. Maybe l8r?
But GIVE MOMPOX A LISTEN, they're so much fun XD
