A girl who's too sad to give a fuck (Bright Eyes)

The other night with Seanne (Xiani, xylophone), Austin (PowerZ LOL) & maybe Olivia (Tremor Control) as well we discussed Bright Eyes & how everyone they know is like "O ya, I liked Bright Eyes back when I was 16". I didn't like Bright Eyes when I was 16, but around that time I was listening 2 the only album of his I've ever heard in its entirety: "Fevers & mirrors". My opinion? I dig his lyrics (of course...so emo, so me), but the music...not so mich. Conor Oberst, u are a ~st0ne f0x~, but...2 whiny & dramatic even 4 my taste, sry. Some ppl have since then recommended songs by him. Irana liked "Bowl of oranges" & put it on a mix she made me, 4 example, Etienne said I gotta check out some of his later work & other Saddle Creek stuff & I will. Just haven't gotten around 2 it yet. Anyways we were talking about that song "Lover I don't have to love", was that his hit or something? Everyone seems 2 know it. I liked the lyrics then (@ 16), I like them now...worth remembering, if u ask me.

I picked you out
Of a crowd & talked to you.
Said I liked your shoes,
You said, "Thanks, Can I follow you?"

So it's up the stairs,
And out of view. No prying eyes.
I poured some wine.
I asked your name;
You asked the time.

Now it's two o'clock.
The club is closed,
We are up the block.
Your hands are on me,
Pressing hard against your jeans,
Your tongue in my mouth,
Trying to keep the words from coming out,
You didn't care to know
Who else may have been you before.

I want a lover I don't have to love,
I want a girl who's too sad to give a fuck.
Where's the kid with the chemicals?

I thought he said to meet him here,
But I'm not sure.
I've got the money
If you've got the time.
He said, "It feels good."
I said "I'll give it a try."

Then my mind went dark,
We both forgot where your car was parked.
Let's just take the train.
I'll meet up with the band in the morning

Bad actors, with bad habits...
Some sad singers, they just play tragic.

& the phone is ringing,
& the van is leaving
Let's just keep touching,
Let's just keep...keep singing

I want a lover I don't have to love,
I want a boy who's so drunk he doesn't talk.
Where's the kid with the chemicals?

I got a hunger & I can't seem to get full.
I need some meaning I can memorize.
The kind I have always seems to slip my mind.

But you, but you...

You write such pretty words,
But life's no storybook.
Love's an excuse to get hurt.
& to hurt.
Do you like to hurt?
I do, I do.
Then hurt me (repeat etc etc)

- "Lover I don't have to love", BRiGHT EYES

Ha, I was googling the cover art for the album & found this description. "Simple guitar tunes & above all, the dramatic voice of Conor Oberst. Some call him the voice of the generation. @ the least, the voice of all depressive & self-obsessed souls". SOUNDS ABOUT RIGHT, UH HUH.

&&& I recall Conor is in2 Latin American stuff. Like, he had another band called Desaparecidos after the ppl who disappeared during Argentina's military dictatorship. I used 2 like their song "What's new for fall", kinda about ~FASHiON~. Or maybe it had a srs bsns, Deep Meaning but I didn't get it. Wouldn't be a surprise since I'm not the sharpest crayon in the box. Desaparecidos had an album called WRITE MUSIC READ SPANISH or something like that. BUENA ONDA.

Él me nombró dueño de toda flor ("Sueño 0", Banda de turistas)

"Sueño 0" totally makes my sternum hurt. Like really really hard. When it comes to Banda de Turistas, it’s all about this & “Las sombras han ganado" which I already posted about once. I have no idea why they do. But yeah, this came on my iPod today so I appreciated its greatness once more.

There’s tons of stuff I’ve been meaning to post but have been sooo busy lately. I don’t love just uploading lyrics. It’s better than nothing bc that way I’ll @ least remember that a certain song was important during a certain time, & I’ll probably more or less recall why, the surrounding circumstances, etc. But today I’ll make the time/effort to write a bit about this one.

Banda de Turistas are friends with Tegan's younger brother. I 1st heard them back in mid-2006 one night while having drinks with her & Cali @ the house of this dude who lived on Federico Lacroze. He was a ~st0ne fox~ & friends with them too, I guess? But they sounded very different then, totally reminding me of Babasónicos. Everyone was in awe of how young they were. They still are. Like…early 20s?

In 2008 they exploded onto the scene, releasing the debut LP “Mágico Corazón Radiofónico” (rly amazing, that’s where the aforementioned songs come from), opening for Jarvis Cocker (he’d personally selected the band), winning a bunch of awards, etc.

They’re all so scrawny & long haired, I LOVE IT. In December 2008 Tegan & I went to a party @ one of their houses. We walked there from her place, eating ice cream & drinking whiskey with coke. I was so wasted when we met, kinda embarrassing…for ages I hoped to run into them again so I could clean up my reputation & prove I’m not quite -such- a mess : P I didn’t see them again until like a year later (@ another party downtown), too long had gone by for them to remember (if they even had past the following day). Although I was kind of wasted that time too, & almost went to tell one member how much I adored his hair. I REEEAAALLLYYY adored his hair, ok? But then I didn’t…maybe next time?

Anyways…I haven’t gotten into their 2nd album (yet?). & I wish everyone could hear the studio version of this song alas it’s not on YouTube so either find it yourself orrr…

Por la tarde ayer
un sol establecí
me descubrí

y el nombre de él
fue quien me reveló
de mi extraña afición
y aire a confusión

Y luego creí ser
El Hijo del Sol
y le juré y regalé
el día de hoy
Él me nombró
dueño de toda flor

y enloquecí
el Color Negro en mí
y el dulce dolor

En la canción fallé,
y ahí no pronuncié
dejé al Hijo Infeliz
lo resolví

All you fucking squares better say your fucking prayers

Walking these streets with a slight headache
just wondering how I could have made what I make.
I don't wanna be carried, I don't want to be buried,
I just want to be married to the very first thought.

Ooh, I get so caught up
thinking thoughts I thought up

I know I've gotta
I've got to find a way
I've got to find a way
to get my mind off
replay, replay, replay, replay, replay,
replay, replay, replay, replay, replay

See I try my very best to be just like I am

but everybody wants me to be like Zimmerman.

So I thought about giving in
& then I think again,
I don't care about what who said
I'm too busy listening to the voices in my head.

Let the haters hate,
(hey tell 'em)
tell them to pull up a seat
(hey tell 'em)
I'll serve their words on plates
Talking all that shit tell them time to eat
let them eat.

Shit scheisse merde
do any of you squares know where I can get a
joint around here?

Shit scheisse merde
do any of you ladies care for a
game of truth or dare?

Shit scheisse merde
I ain't fucking scared of no
lions tigers bears oh

Shit scheisse merde
catch me singing this in twenty years
at some local county fair

If I had a dollar for every single yes
but you took away one for every no
I'd have about six dollars,
which is incidentally how much
I got in my pocket right now.

If I had a dollar for every single yes
but you took away one for every no,
I'd have about six dollars, which
divided by seven---
do your math. mmm, that ain't

Shit, scheisse, merde
all you fucking squares better say your fucking prayers.

Shit, scheisse, merde
he said you act like you care &
I act like I care & we both stay rich
.
Stay rich as shit, scheisse, merde

So call & I'll get right back / if your intentions are pure

Hello, I know there's someone out there,
who can understand, and whose feeling,
the same way as me.
I'm 24, and I've got everything to live for,
but I know now, that it wasn't meant to be.
Cause all has been lost and,
all has been won,
and there's nothing left for us to save.
But now I know that I don't wanna be alone today,
so if you're finding, that you're feeling just the same...

Call me now it's alright,
It's just the end of the world.
You need a friend in the world,
cause you can't hide.
So call & I'll get right back,
if your intentions are pure,
Seeking a friend, for the end, of the world.

I've got a photograph I send it off today,
you will see that, I am perfectly sane.
Not for a lifetime or forever any day,
cause we know now, that just won't be the case.

With no commitment & no confessions and,
no little secrets to keep.
No little children or,
houses with roses,
just the end of the world & me.

Cause all has been gone and, all has been done,
and there's nothing left for us to say.
But we could be together as they blow it all away
and we could share in every moment as it breaks.

Friday featuring T-Rex Motivation, Frank Zappa Trouble, & a really rocking compliment

Friday evening, riding the 60 on the way to YES+, looking out the window, I saw a guy in his early 30s wearing a business suit walking down Las Heras wearing those huge headphones. He was dancing more than walking. & he was singing too. He was obviously ROCKING & ROLLING, digging the fact that it was FRIDAY EVENING. I thought about the line “Love the way you walk” from “The Motivator” by T-Rex. It reminded me of this one time I saw a Boy I really liked (in fact, I've never liked anyone so much) from afar, walking down the hall @ Uni. He also seemed to sorta be doing a little dance. I recall his tall frame kinda swaying side to side (or was I hallucinating?), his lovely hair, his jeans, his red All Stars, his backpack. That line playing in my head: Love the way you walk ♪ My ♥ skipped a beat, started racing, my chest filled with butterflies...one or all of the above. I rushed 2 the nearest bathroom & hid. I was probably 19, although the behavior sounds more like a 10 year old’s : P

Got off the bus. “Trouble every day” by Frank Zappa was playing on the iPod.

I mean to say that every day
Is just another rotten mess
& when it's gonna change, my friend
Is anybody's guess
So I'm watching & I'm waiting
Hopin' for the best
Even think I go to praying
Every time I hear them sayin'
That there's no way to delay
That trouble comin' everyday

A girl walked past me on the street. Her t-shirt read HERE COMES TROUBLE. Funny, bc I’d just been thinking about how sometimes I have such a knack (yes, like the band that did “My Sharona” in Reality Bites, the song they dance in minimart. Kata & I used to LOL @ this so much) for geting myself into ~TROUBLE~.

Then during the course, a blonde girl called Cassandra ("Cassandra Gemini", The Mars Volta!) MADE MY DAY by saying “Tenés cara de rockstar” followed by sth along the lines of “Deberías tener una banda o algo. Pero una banda de chicas” (You look like a rockstar. You should have a band or something. But a girl band). That’s like, one of the most AWESOME things someone has ever said to me. I was like “OMG, THX SO MUCH, I LOVE U 4 THIS”, with a Cheshire Cat Grin. Or as we say in YES+: with a Pregnant Hippopotamus Smile xD

On this page, we see a little girl giggling at a hippopotamus. I wonder why…

A Maoist intellectual in the music industry (Momus)

His name reminds me of a statue. Also, Rey Momo, a brand of carnival-related products (*). “I was a maoist intellectual” is my fav song from the LP “Tender pervert”. Mao sounds very feline to me therefore I find it a perfect cat name, probably bc it’s similar to meow/miau. Oh yeah, Momo is the name of the cat belonging to Anne, my CouchSurfing host in Dresden : )

Well, I know nothing about this dude except that he did stuff with multi-lingual Japanese pop-princess Kahimi Karie (one of my fav artists), which is how I got to know him. She sang a lot of his tunes ex: Vogue bambini, I am a kitten, Giapponaise a Roma, Good morning world. Honestly I like her versions better bc I prefer her innocent, whispery, girly voice, so eventually I will post those. I bet the two of them dated. & she dated Cornelius before so…not bad, sister, not bad ; )

Anyways. “Right hand heart” has been uploaded before. My other picks are “A Complete History Of Sexual Jealousy (Parts 17-24)”, “The girl with no body” & “Orgasm addict” (originally by the Buzzcocks before, right? Or is that a cover as well?)

The lyrics tell a little story, & @ some points, to me Momus sounds as though he's laughing or smiling as he sings. If you're into politics maybe you'd find them amusing. I'm not but I find them cheeky, cute & original...

I was a Maoist intellectual in the music industry
I always knew that I could seize the world's imagination
And show the possibilities for transformation
I saw a nation in decay, but also a solution: Permanent cultural revolution
Whenever I played my protest songs the press applauded me
Rolled out the red carpet, parted the Red Sea
But the petit bourgeois philistines stayed away
They preferred their artists to have nothing to say

How did I pass my time on earth? Now it can be revealed:
I was a Maoist intellectual in the entertainment field

I showed the people how they lived and told them it was bad
Showed them the insanity inside the bureaucrat
And the archetypes and stereotypes that were my stock in trade
Toppled all the ivory towers that privilege had made
Though I tried to change your mind I never tried your patience
All I tried to do was to point out your exploitation
But the powers that be took this to be a personal insult
And refused to help me build my personality cult

How did I pass my time an earth, what on earth got into me?
I was a Maoist intellectual in the music industry

I left the normal world behind and started living in
A hinterland between dissolution and self discipline
I burned the midnight oil to build my way of seeing
A miner at the coal face of meaning
The rich despised the songs I wrote which told the poor their worth
Told the shy to speak and told the meek to take the earth
But my downfall came from being three things the working classes hated:
Agitated, organised and over-educated

How did I pass my time on earth, how did I bear witness?
As a Maoist intellectual in the entertainment business
And how was I treated in this world and in this industry?
As a Maoist intellectual in a business would be

I became a hotel doorman, I stood there on the doormat
Clutching my forgotten discs in their forgotten format
Trying to hand them out to all the stars who sauntered in
The ones who hadn't been like me, who hadn't lived in vain
I gave up ideology the day I lost my looks
I never found a publisher for my little red books
When I died the energy released by my frustration
Was nearly enough for re-incarnation

But if I could live my life again the last thing that I'd be
Is a Maoist intellectual in the music industry
No, if I could live my life again I think I'd like to be
The man whose job is to stop the men who think like me
Yeah! If l could live my life again that'd be the thing to be
The man who plots the stumbling blocks
In the lives of the likes of me!
- "I was a Maoist intellectual", Momus

Hora de no ver ("Glass", Incubus)

If I had a dime for every time you walked away,
I could afford to not give a shit
and buy a drink and drown the day
But your pockets, they are empty,
yeah, and mine are times two
So why not make an about face,
and accept the love I send to you?

You're never gonna be content if you don't try
try to see outside your line.
There you go, you did it again!
You act as if there's blinders on your eyes

Should I apologize if what I say burns your ears and stains your eyes?
Oh, did I crack your shell?
When it falls away, you'll see we exist as well

Like a bottle with the cork stuck,
your true ingredients trapped up inside.
Through the cloudy glass we catch a glimpse of you,
I guess the hard shell represents your pride.
Oh, if only it could be different
we could uncover the you you deny.

Between two, a small discrepancy,
one complicates and one simplifies.

TAKE THOSE FUCKING BLINDERS OFF YOUR EYES

So if I had a dime for every time you walked away,
you could bet your bottom dollar that
I'd be filthy rich by noon today
- "Glass", Incubus

This song (& band) was very important in my life circa 2001-2002, a period during which I was lucky enough to see them in concet twice. My 4 fav bands were silverchair, Incubus, Skulker & Foo Fighters. But this post is about "Glass", which I recently realized is (again) really relevant to certain current things & goings-on. Although not necessarily the same way it was the 1st time around. I really need to do an Incubus post.

Also I think from now on instead of providing mp3s to download I'll just post YouTube links. Quicker, easier. Most of the songs are on there anyways. In some cases (namely when the song is playing to videos made by random people) it's best to disregard the imagery part : P You be the judge of that, but know that -unless otherwise specified-, I only endorse the musical content.

I could be... (Sombras y Jueves Jodido)

Both of these me hacen doler el esternón, as Paco would say. That means they make my sternum hurt, & it's a good thing. I think only music can do it. I've been meaning to write about this feeling. Among sooo much other stuff.

"Shadows" is one of my fav tunes everrr by Rufus Wainwright, from my fav album of his: "Poses" (his 2nd). I read somewhere that the song has a funky feel, but I wouldn't know since I'm shit when it comes 2 classifications. This is also one of my fav Rufus pix.

"Las sombras han ganado" is one of my 2 fav tracks from Banda de Turistas' debut "Mágico corazón radiofónico". A young (very young, like super early 20s) indie sensation, they were the next big thing in 2008 or so. Their 2nd album came out last year but I prefer the 1st.

On another note, my Thursday was Full of Fail. Jueves Jodido. I felt kinda "Tuna in the brine" by Silverchair. But essentially I need to cut the "Just" by Radiohead crap ASAP. It's, like, soOoOo passé.

Oh wait, I had this dream where I got on the 95 bus. MM (who is really pretty & has nice, long hair) was there & she got offended bc I didn't say hello. Then she patted me on the head & was like "I intimidate you, don't I? Awww, that's so cute". Then AR was on the bus too & I thought "O FUX" bc I used 2 like him but nowadays he's pretty annoying & unfriendly 2 run in2. I guess seeing him made me nervous bc I dropped this cardboard box I was holding. The dream also involved a swamp, Pool, Cande Muro & a birthday. Today was Silvana Moreno's btw XD HAPPY HAPPY!!!

Who will keep
Keep me in this evening
Even though
They are not here with me

I could be a great star
Still I'm far from happy

Finally
Feel the world around me

Fighting through
Fighting through the whiskey

Out of these shadows
Comes the light
Shadows comes the light

You will keep
Keep me in this evening
Even though
You are not here with me

I could be...
- "Shadows", Rufus Wainwright

Con el despertar amargo
vuelvo a sentir el piso
siempre busqué el aire
y nunca encontré
a nadie

Dada tu inquietud amable
pensé en algo brillante:
que puedas ser rentable
y que nadie te acompañe
hasta mí

Tanto tiempo ahí sentado
pensando que podría estar
pasando

Mejor me hubiese dedicado
a las sombras o a al
ganado

I let the beast in too soon (Fiona Apple)

One of my fav artists during high school, I listened to her 1st two albums very often. Her debut LP was in my discman when I was assaulted in 2000. The song "Carrion", which I really like, was playing. She became famous in 1997 with the hit "Criminal" & -if I'm not mistaken- was classified as angsty chick music together with others such as Tori Amos (like), PJ Harvey (like. Also, many have said I look like her, YAY!), Alanis Morrissette (who I began to h8 with the release of Supposed former infatuation junkie), Sarah McLaughlin (hit: "Adia"), umm...Ani Difranco & Liz Phair (maybe the angriest of them all, amirite?) & I dunno, all those women who played the Lilith Fair festival.

The song I have chosen today is the 1st single off her 2nd album. The title of said LP is a poem which I used to know by heart, but now I only remember the first line. When the Pawn Hits the Conflicts He Thinks Like a King, What He Knows Throws the Blows When He Goes to the Fight, And He’ll Win the Whole Thing ’Fore He Enters the Ring, There’s No Body To Batter When Your Mind Is Your Might, So When You Go Solo You Hold Your Own Hand, And Remember That Depth Is the Greatest of Heights, And If You Know Where You Stand, Then You'll Know Where To Land, And If You Fall It Won’t Matter, Cuz You'll Know That You’re Right. I wonder if it's the longest album title ever.

I let the beast in too soon, I don't know how to live
Without my hand on his throat; I fight him always & still
Oh darling, it's so sweet, you think you know how crazy
How crazy I am

You say you don't spook easy, you won't go, but I know
And I pray that you will
Fast as you can, baby, run - free yourself of me
Fast as you can

I may be soft in your palm but I'll soon grow
Hungry for a fight, and I will not let you win
My pretty mouth will frame the phrases that will
Disprove your faith in man
So if you catch me trying to find my way into your
Heart from under your skin
Fast as you can, baby scratch me out, free yourself
Fast as you can

Sometimes my mind don't shake and shift
But most of the time, it does
And I get to the place where I'm begging for a lift
Or I'll drown in the wonders and the was
And I'll be your girl, if you say it's a gift
And you give me some more of your drugs
Yeah, I'll be your pet, if you just tell me it's a gift
'cause I'm tired of whys, choking on whys,
Just need a little because, because

I let the beast in and then;
I even tried forgiving him, but it's too soon
So I'll fight again, again, again, again, again.

And for a little while more, I'll soar the
Uneven wind, complain and blame
The sterile land
But if you're getting any bright ideas, quiet dear
I'm blooming within

Fast as you can, baby wait watch me, I'll be out
Fast as I can, maybe late but at least about
Fast as you can leave me, let this thing
Run its route
Fast as you can
- "Fast as you can", Fiona Apple

Other recommended songs (in no order): The way things are, Never is a promise (My favorite lyrics, possibly), Shadowboxer, Carrion, Across the universe (cover. Nice vid, too), Get gone, Extraordinary machine, A better version of me

Zoloft

Gimme that z, o-l-o-f-t
Gimme a grip, make me love me
Suckin' 'em down, I'm happy man
Can feel it inside, makin' me smile

...realize that the sky's not made of gold
don't disguise the nature of your soul

Gimme that z, o-l-o-f-t
No longer pissed & you don't bother me
I'm makin' it through, I'm givin' my all

When base are loaded, I'm whacking the ball

...don't suck the mind, don't drain the source
the path of life's not so easy to course, buddy

- "Zoloft", Ween

The name makes me think of zombies or mummies dancing with their arms spread out like scarecrows. This is one of my fav songs by Ween, which is Ezequiel's fav band. 1st he copied "The Mollusk" 4 me some years ago & it didn't do much 4 me. But then came the rest of the discography & I found I enjoyed many songs such as Seconds, Koko, LMLYP, Happy colored marbles & The Stallion Pt 3 (I do declare I can float in the air). Still don't really like The Mollusk though. As 4 Zoloft...maybe I've never taken a high enough dosage but I've never felt it (or any psychotropic) made me ~soOoO~ happy or anything. Am kinda curious how that would feel.

You do it to yourself

Unfortunately I'm really feeling this song @ the moment.

Can't get the stink off
He's been hanging round for days
Comes like a comet
Suckered you but not your friends
One day he'll get to you
& teach you how to be a holy cow

You do it to yourself, you do
& that's what really hurts
You do it to yourself, just you
you & no-one else
You do it to yourself
You do it to yourself

Don't get my sympathy
Hanging out the 15th floor
changed the locks three times
He still comes reeling through the door
one day I'll get to you
& teach you how to get to purest hell

"Girl anachronism", The Dresden Dolls

You can tell
from the scars on my arms
& the cracks in my hips
& the dents in my car
& the blisters on my lips
that I'm not the carefullest of girls

You can tell
from the glass on the floor
& the strings that are breaking
& I keep on breaking more
& it looks like I am shaking
but it's just the temperature
then again
if it were any colder I could disengage
if I were any older I would act my age
but I don't think that you'd believe me
it's not the way I'm meant to be
it's just the way the operation made me

& you can tell
from the state of my room
that they let me out too soon
& the pills that I ate
came a couple years too late
& I've got some issues to work through

there I go again
pretending to be you
make-believing
that I have a soul beneath the surface
trying to convince you
it was accidentally on purpose

I am not so serious
this passion is a plagiarism
I might join your century
but only on a rare occasion
I was taken out
before the labor pains set in and now
behold the world's worst accident
I am the girl anachronism

& you can tell
by the red in my eyes
& the bruises on my thighs
& the knots in my hair
& the bathtub full of flies
that I'm not right now at all
there I go again
pretending that I'll fall
don't call the doctors
they've seen it all before
they'll say just
"Let her crash and burn, she'll learn
(the attention just encourages her)"

& you can tell
from the full-body cast
that you're sorry that you asked
that you did everything you could
(like any decent person would)
but I might be catching so don't touch
you'll start believing you're immune to gravity & stuff

don't get me wet
because the bandages will all come off

You can tell
from the smoke at the stake
that the current state is critical
well it is the little things, for instance:
in the time it takes to break it she can make up ten excuses:
Please excuse her for the day, it's just the way the medication makes her...

I don't necessarily believe there is a cure for this
so I might join your century but only as a doubtful guest
I was too precarious removed as a cesarean
behold the worlds worst accident

"Hold me", she said "love me to death"

There are no sunsets just silence
You could see that she was true & faithless
But see through the future & forget all the lies
Black out the words for the blind have eyes

I am the girl who wanted to be God

There are times when you feel hopeless
Just for once for no-one else we are blameless
The dawn is still breaking its heaven is so high
She told the truth, told the truth & then she lied

I am the girl who wanted to be God

"Hold me", she said "love me to death"

- "The girl who wanted to be God", Manic Street Preachers

Loving this @ the moment. MSP have so many fucking albums, I discover new songs every day. & to be honest the LPs I'm most familiar with are the first three & the last one. This track is from the fourth, Everything must go. My other 2 most recent MSP discoveries are "Just A Kid" & "Close My Eyes".

The kid with the replaceable head

Another lean & lanky love also named Nick (VALENSI, from The Strokes)

Too young to drink & too smart to think
Attaches on his head with the missing link
He's skinny as a snake and fast as a mink
But he ain't for sale unless you add the kitchen sink

Look out, here he comes again
They say he's dead, he's my three best friends
He's so honest that the dishonest dread
Meeting the kid with the replaceable head

When you live on a planet the size of a town
You can't get your kicks by getting around
Fun's hard to find on such familiar ground
So you invent it: the mental it's better than found

He used to beat himself up till he was sick and confused
Dead tired and throbbing, half crazy and bruised
Till he'd be too worn out to keep being himself
Now he can pick them at will from the heads on his shelf

- "The kid with the replaceable head", Richard Hell (WHO, CIRCA 1977, IS MY BOYFRIEND) & the Voidoids

PS: If I made a movie, this song would play during the closing credits, I think.
PS2: Richards & Nicholases ARE LOVE

I've been too honest w/ myself, I should have lied like everybody else

These lyrics are so true to me. I was just recalling that. I think from a non-biased perspective, it's an epic & brilliant song.

[Audio sample]
"I hate purity
Hate goodness
I don't want virtue to exist anywhere
I want everyone corrupt"

[Song begins]
I am an architect, they call me a butcher
I am a pioneer, they call me primitive
I am purity, they call me perverted
Holding you but I only miss these things when they leave

I am idiot drug hive, the virgin, the tattered & the torn
Life is for the cold made warm & they are just lizards
Self-disgust is self-obsession honey & I do as I please
A morality obedient, only to the cleansed repented

I am stronger than Mensa, Miller & Mailer
I spat out Plath & Pinter
I am all the things that you regret
A truth that washes that learnt how to spell

The first time you see yourself naked you cry
Soft skin now acne, foul breath, so broken
He loves me truly this mute solitude I'm draining
I know I believe in nothing but it is my nothing

Sleep can't hide the thoughts splitting through my mind
Shadows aren't clean, false mirrors too many people awake
If you stand up like a nail then you will be knocked down
I've been too honest with myself I should have lied like everybody else

So damn easy to cave in, man kills everything (x4)
-"Faster", Manic street preachers

...But maybe I am biased bc it was probably my 1st fav MSP track.

Happy Mondays

To begin this week, here are some insightful, deep, meaningful & inspirational lyrics written by Shaun Ryder (a true poet) for the Happy Mondays. Most are from the album "Pills n thrills n bellyaches".

I'm here to harass you, I want your pills & grass you
You don't look first class, you
Let me look up your ass, you
I smell dope, I smell dope, I smell dope, I am smelling dope

I smell dope, I smell dope, I smell dope, I am smelling dope
Holiday
We're so good, we’re so good, we’re so good, man we've never been so good
We're so nice, we’re so nice, we’re so nice, man we've never been so nice

Gonna buy an airforce base
Gonna wipe out your race
Get stoned in a different place
Don't you know I got better taste

& when it's hot
you start to melt
'cos you're not made of jean
You're made of chocolate

Son, I'm 30
I only went with your mother 'cause she's dirty

'Coz me and the chief got soul to soul
Me and the chief got slowly stoned

I can virtually do anything I read
Someone somewhere was between your knees

Four fall in a bed, three giving head, one getting wet

Kiss me for screwing everything in sight

I saw them @ the Personal Fest with Loles in 2007 & it was one of my fav concerts ever. I was soOoOo excited, I never thought I'd get to see them live. They still brought it on although they're old now.

PS: Since the Mondays are Deep & Meaningful ---> the Kills - Cheap & Cheerful (Sebastian remix)
